With this post, I intend to answer all the confusion and queries related to the current state of Foodomaa and its future of it.
Why was Foodomaa removed from CodeCanyon?
In a general review done by Envato Staffs, it was found that Foodomaa has some encrypted files. (The IonCube Encrypted files, that are used for license verification)
According to Envato, no files should be encrypted, and hence they temporarily disabled Foodomaa and said that they will only enable it once the encrypted files are removed. According to them, license verification and any measures we want to implement on the application are ALLOWED, but without encryption.
What did we do after this?
Of course, we rejected this as without encryption, there is no use of a License Verification system as any rookie can easily bypass it.
We wrote multiple emails to them explaining why this kind of encryption is necessary and explained all the things that were in place. As the Envato support system is super slow, we didn't get any replies.
We made plans to move out of CodeCanyon and never get linked to any 3rd party provider as we lose control of our own software and they can screw us up with their bogus rules.
So, on 23rd April 2022, we wrote to CodeCanyon to remove all our modules from CodeCanyon as well.
Surprise from Envato
On 24th April 2022, we received an email from Envato stating the following:
Hi,
You will be glad you hear we are now going to allow IONCUBE in applications on the condition it is made very clear at the top of the item description that the application uses IONCUBE and this is required on the Buyers server.
Please submit an update with this in the description and we can get your item re-enabled!
Thanks.
So now we could just update the description of Foodomaa that we have used Ioncube, and everything will go well.
So will Foodomaa be back on CodeCanyon?
Short answer: NO.
We could bring Foodomaa back on CodeCanyon in a minute without changing a single line of code as stated by Envato, but we choose not to operate on CodeCanyon anymore.
We are not like any other CodeCanyon/Envato developers who have 10-100 applications to sell. We just have one product that we have perfected with our customer feedback over years.
We consider ourselves as a product company and to align everything to our vision, it's better we build our own way to serve our customers.
So what's next?
We have learned over the past couple of years and we have noted all the things down and we are working to bring up a new advanced and improved Foodomaa Platform that actually focuses on your business growth. Fully your business growth-centric.
We have already started work and we will provide the details when a better roadmap is ready.
The new platform will be a one-time subscription charge of $49* and will have a transaction fee of 1% of each order that is completed.
Older customer doesn't need to pay the one-time subscription charge of $49, they will be able to signup for free.
(With probable support for migration*)
(prices might alter when it's actually released)
What will I get with this new platform?
- All the apps
- Lifetime support
- Lifetime auto-updates (just imagine, we found some bug, and it got fixed in just a few minutes without you even touching a single file or worrying about any update process)
- No need to worry about any tech/server-related stuff, just focus on the business.
Why would I care to move to the new platform when I can manage my own website?
Feel free to use the current Foodomaa if you do not wish to migrate to the new platform.
The new platform is only for the users who actually do not care about the tech stuff and just want to focus on their business part. We are moving to serve only those customers.
What about the current Foodomaa?
You are free to use the current Foodomaa if you wish to. No customer will be forced to move to the new platform.
It's all up to you to decide.
As Foodomaa is no longer on Envato Market, the last version is v3.5.
There will not be any further updates. (This is as per the Envato policies)
Your support will be valid till your support plan expires. Obviously, support will only be under our scope of support.
Renewal of support is terminated.
