Today I came across Grabs food - order scheduling system and it was elegant. It then reminded me, when will the order scheduling update be released ?

@Saurabh Thanks for taking in consideration this again. When I said many other platform, i mean to say that there are many such platform in my country (Italy) who offer their services based on yearly subscription. I don't want to compare them to Foodmaa as i know they are very costly.

I am also using free version of GloriaFood (Free and paid plans). You can try it to take insipiration from it. You can also try the one Open Source program that I mentioned u 3-4 months ago. Its also based on laravel and they have a order schedule module. Please try it before you start working on order schedule for foodomaa.

This open source program allow restaurant to create time slots. Restaurant can create time slots as per their choice (5, 10,15,30,45,60 min) Here they can also set their opening times and this module automatically create time slots based on their opening and closing times.

For example: My restaurant opening times are 12:00 - 14:30 and 18:00 - 23:30. I created time slot of each 10 min. and it automatically create available times slots as per opening and closing times.
12:00 - 12:10 (first available time slot)
12:10 - 12:20 .........
14:20 - 14:30 (Last available time slot based on my closing time)
and than
18:00 -18:10 (Again first available time slot for dinner)
18:10 - 18:20
18:20 - 18:30
23:20 - 23:30 (Last available time slot based on my closing time)

You don't have to create separate section for schedule orders. Restaurant should get order in realtime and prepare it as per required time. In this way we can also solve the issue of delivery guy losing times. Delivery guy know that he has to deliver an order at 19:30 and he will reach the restaurant in time.

I am using Foodomaa for a small and single restaurant. I just wanted to give my clients and option to order food directly from their phone so they don't have to call the restaurant over the phone. I can't afford expensive programs or extended license. I am very happy with Foodomaa and I really appreciate your efforts. I don't care if you make it separate module or integrate it to core foodomaa. As soon it will be available i will buy it.

Once again thank you so much for Foodomaa. For saving our times during lockdown.

Let's say we keep the scheduled orders in the bottom inside the "New Orders" section.

Let's say the current time is 9:00am and the order is scheduled for 1:00pm.

Questions:

When will be the order allowed to be accepted by the Restaurant? (Because if the restaurant accepts the order, it will go to the delivery guy - we donot want that unless restaurant starts to prepare the order right?) - so how much minutes before, we can show the accept button?
May be we can set up another setting for each store "Notify of scheduled orders before XX minutes"
So if this value is set 30mins, then the restaurant will be notified at 12:30 for the order that needs to be delivered at 1:00pm

New - The current orders appear here as usual and the pre-orders are moved to this section after some time.

Byt why??? Restaurant should get order in realtime and delivery guy also should get notification in same time. Restaurant accept the order in advance and prepare it at schedule time. Delivery guy will also know in advance that he has to deliver an order at 13:00 and this will allow delivery guy to better manage his deliveries. He will reach the restaurant 12:50 to pick up the order and deliver it by 13:00.

almost 80% of orders that we get in our restaurant are schduled orders. We know in advance that we have to prepare these orders by that time and clients walks in and pick their order or we deliver them at the required time.

Order will be accepted by restaurant after they open. Owner comes in at 12.00-1.00pm and checks orders. Then click accept.

When restaurant opens at 1pm, cook start cooking at 1pm. First available time slot in time selector would be 1.30-2.00pm (if you stick to 30 minutes time slots).

Keep it simple.

Saurabh you can make buffer time settings so we can set schedule rules .for example we can set like
*Buffer time - 3 hours from the time of placing order
*slot times
*slot interval
*opening and closing time (default for all since you said its complicated with auto open amd close)
*allow dwlivery boy to get notofication after order packed

josan420 I don't think this is the way to go.

As I told, restaurant will get order in real time itself, but should they be allowed to accept the order at the same time? Why should they accept the order at 9am for the order that is scheduled for 1pm?

If they accept the order, a notification is sent to deliver guy for the new order( in the current Foodomaa system ) - we need to keep that in mind while trying to figure out how to integrate a new functionality to be compatible with this.

There is no need of delivery guy to know about an order unless the order is accepted by the restaurant to start preparing.

Saurabh Schedule orders also can be rejected, in case what the customer ordered is already finished before the scheduled delivery time.

That's why we need a new STATUS for the restaurant to change it to Ready for Pickup and that's when the Delivery boy will get the notification.

The status will be like this: Accepted >> Ready for Pickup (Restaurant change this and that's when the Delivery boy gets the notification) >> Picked up >> Delivered.

Maybe we can show a message to the restaurant owner, to change to ready for pickup 5-10 minutes before, so the delivery boy can reach the restaurant.

For Delivery boy >> Accept >> Pickup >> Deliverd.

Maybe we can show the delivery boy there are orders but we will show Accept/Notification when the restaurant changes to "Ready for Pickup"

I really don't want to add a new status for the order just for the sake of Order scheduling.

The restaurant will have the option to cancel the order just like they cancel the regular order before accepting it. There is no need for Ready For Pickup.

When the order is placed, the order status is "Order Placed" which is correct for the customer.

When the time is near, the restaurant will accept the order and the order status will be changed to "Preparing order" - from this step onwards it will be same as the regular order.

Saurabh Your message does not reassure me. You had confirmed that you were going to make the update in a short time so that the restaurant could place the order in ready to pick up to avoid that the deliveryman arrives too early.

By reading your message I have the impression that you forgot this step and announced it a few days ago ....

Can you tell me more? Because let's imagine I place an order at 7pm, the restaurant accepts it at 7:01pm, then it starts the order at 7:30pm, and it's ready at 7:50pm, this poses a problem if the deliveryman is notified to pick up the order at 7:01pm...

AgencyNilton this discussion is only about implementation of Order Scheduling, not for "Ready to Pickup" functionality.

The "Ready to Pickup" that you are suggesting is for the whole Foodomaa, and not particularly for Order scheduling.

"Ready for pickup" status will be done for later versions of Foodomaa which is not in the scope of discussion of this thread.

IanKuria If you want to have that kind of functionality, better buy it. Then comeback to us / share your thoughts about it. It's a very affordable script. try it. Let us see how far you can go with that.

Work on something simple

Restaurant setup predefined schedule.(order allowed on that slot). Once the slots defined you don't have to worry about scheduling. Why need buffer before order?
Customer place order, order accepted by the restaurant. let them decide when they want to accept.
Since the order has timing, the delivery guy should know when to deliver

Refine it as it progress.

hi . check this out for order schedule.
img 1: we can set buffer time so that the schedule / slot starts only after the certain time.
img 2: we can set the slot type
img 3: we can set the time slots.

*this is only for idea purpose that ll be great for order scheduling.

I would like my customers to be able to schedule their pickup / collection time.

Options ideal for me should be simply:

Now
In 10mins
In 15mins
in 30 mins
Specifiy time selector

My bizmodel has no delivery drivers.

If the shop is closed when the customer would like to pickup then they should not be allowed to place the order and reminded of the restaurant closing time, then they can decide if it suits them or not to go through with the order.

Example

Time is 3pm and Shop closes at 5pm. Customer places order for 5:30pm. Notification = Sorry shop will be closed, please schedule pickup for before 4:45pm

Any idea when this module may be ready>?
